The
choices, the choices. When it comes to wheels, it’s one of the most important
choices anyone can make about the overall style and functionality of their
vehicle. Do you go Flush, functional, just for show, or purely a lightweight
option? Next thing you have to do is find the perfect wheel size. Our Scion FR-S has a 5×100 bolt pattern which doesn’t have all that many options. The more popular 5×114.3 gets most of the fitments I would want to run, but alas, you must make do with what you have. I believe that a 17″/18″ in a staggered 8.5 front and 9.5 rear with offset around +30/+40 would be a great fitment for our drift-centered build. To further complicate things, we want the wheels in a matte black finish. This leaves us with a couple of options, listed below in form of picture: First Choice SSR SP1 We love the classic styling of this wheel and also the great fitments that is is available in. It is a little bit on the heavy side for an 18″ version, but we are building a drift car, not a time attack car. Second Choice SSR Type-F A simplistic choice, another from SSR. Very lightweight and functional, also not seen that often on drift specs. Third Choice Work Wheels Emotion CR Ultimate A solid choice for any car, and in a great fitment for the FR-S. I just don’t know if this wheel is different “enough” from the other FR-S/BRZ/86 tuners out there since I’ve already seen 3-4 examples of this wheel installed. It’s like wearing the same shoes as someone else… Just can’t do it. Fourth Choice Gram Lights 57Xtreme I really like the concavity and design of this new wheel, however I don’t see it available in a matte black finish. What do you think? Fifth Choice Enkei RPF1 The RPF1, lightweight, inexpensive, and strong. Can’t really go wrong here. What wheels should we choose? Help us decide! |
