Toyota GT-86 Shooting Brake

There are few things in the car world which are more satisfying than a sporty small driver's car. Turning said car into a wagon is one of them. Never in a million years did anyone think the GT-86 would get this treatment, but it has and boy are we mesmerized by it. First of all, let's start by saying that it's not going to be put into production. It's a one off made by Toyota's Australian styling studio as a sort of concept study. That's a real shame because it looks absolutely stunning.

The front is basically the same, it features the same fascia with the recognizable headlights and the grille. The real difference is first noticeable when you look at it from a side view. It doesn't have the traditional coupe roofline it used to, since like we said it's been converted to a shooting brake concept. As such, it has a tall rear end much like a wagon does, with a small hatch at the rear giving access to the trunk. It's the same length as the coupe but in no way does the addition seem like a hack-up job. It's been properly put together, giving the impression of a production-ready vehicle.

We're sure just like us, lots of people want Toyota to make it but the reality is a little different. First of all, as cool and practical as it looks, perhaps even cooler than the coupe, realistically not a lot of people will opt for it. It's a very niche segment, and simply put there aren't that many people out there ready to get the shooting brake over the coupe. Elsewhere, it's got the same interior and drivetrain. Toyota says it's fully functional and we're inclined to believe them. Toyota if you're reading, we hope it makes it into production.

As always, you can find great deals on aftermarket performance parts for your Subaru BR-Z (Toyota GT-86/Scion FR-S) at Furious Customs.
