If you've ever watched the F&F movie franchise you'll be familiar with the following car. No, it isn't the actual car that featured in the movie but rather one inspired by it. You don't have to be an avid F&F fan to know it, nor do you have to be an enthusiast. It's really recognizable for one specific reason. It's the car Sung Kang drove in Tokyo Drift. If you guessed Veilside RX-7 you're right!
It started life as a normal RX-7 just laying in DTM Autobody's workshop collecting dust. Rather than letting such a unique vehicle sit and rot, they've decided to go retro and reminisce of the good old days, back when it all began. It's no surprise that it's gotten the same bodykit as the one in the movie and indeed, the recognizable paint job that made it stand out even then. It may be a bit overkill for today's standards seeing as how the trend is less is more, but regardless, here it is!
Under the hood there's a custom three-rotor engine, so all props to the guys keeping it true to its roots. There's no specific details about hp or torque numbers but expect the former to be pretty high (500+). It's nothing we haven't seen before, but it is good to see these flashback inducing vehicles from time to time. They evoke certain memories and thoughts in every enthusiasts' mind. The LA Autocon is long over now, but the RX-7 still lingers in the memory. Here's to more similar cars in the future!
